Columbian of the Year

Tom Rector is the Founder and CEO of Thumbprint, a top 50 branded merchandise and uniform company serving enterprise and Fortune 500 organizations nationwide. Since founding the company in 2008 (where is first office was on the 6th floor of the Columbia Club), he has grown it into a $45 million global organization with integrated manufacturing, fulfillment, and technology-driven solutions.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rector has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the Columbia Club through years of dedicated service and meaningful impact.
Tom has served the Club in multiple key roles, each marked by measurable progress and lasting contributions. As a member of the Fitness Center Committee, he played a central role in advancing the renovation of the fitness center and locker rooms—enhancing one of the Club’s most valued amenities. As Membership Chair, he helped lead a resurgence in growth, with new member recruitment surpassing 200 members for the first time in over a decade.
Rector served eight years on the Board of Directors during a transformative period in the Club’s history, including the Platinum Society era. During this time, the Club saw the development of the Platinum Lounge, the Wine Room, and the expansion of the fitness center—investments that elevated the member experience and modernized the Club’s offerings. He was also a steady presence during one of the Club’s most challenging periods, helping guide the organization through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Treasurer for two years, Tom helped establish the financial discipline and stability that the Club benefits from today, ensuring a strong foundation for future growth. Most recently, he stepped in as President of the Columbia Club Historical Preservation Foundation, helping position the organization for an upcoming capital campaign and the continued preservation of the Club’s legacy.
In April, Tom will return to the Board of Directors, continuing his long-standing commitment to the Club’s success.
Tom’s leadership is defined by action, accountability, and a deep respect for the institution. His contributions have not only strengthened the Columbia Club’s operations and financial position but have also helped shape its future.
He lives in downtown Indianapolis with his wife, Nicole, and their dog, Gertrude.
